First Blog Ever...

So!  I made it to the posting of my very first blog.  Choosing a name was taxing to say the least (I'm still open for suggestions but I liked Monica's Musings the best so far!)

It is my hope to use this place to update friends and family who may be interested in the progress made by myself and my dad after we undergo a kidney transplant next Monday, June 6, 2011.  My dad has been sick for two and a half years.  He has been going to dialysis for renal (kidney) failure 3 times a week (4 hours each time).  He was cleared just before Christmas to be on the recipient list and I was tested and proven to be a kidney match right around the first of April.

It is also my hope that this blog will eventually be a place to share other things not related to the kidney.

The surgery will be Monday, June 6, 2011.  It will take place at Presbyterian/St. Luke's Hospital here in Denver.  I will be in the hospital until probably Thursday and my dad will most likely come home on Friday.  Prayers are needed for, specifically, 2 uneventful and infection-free surgeries for my dad and me, and also that my dad's body does not reject his new kidney.

My friend Steve Johnson has graciously offered to arrange meals for my family.  He can be contacted by email at sajohnson0508@comcast.net or by cell phone 720.232.5986.  Thanks Steve... you are awesome!

That's all for now.  Let's see if I can figure out how to let everyone know about my new blog.  :)
